What you need to know...

Chateau Tilques is a special place to stay – a truly impressive chateau near Saint Omer set in parkland reached by a sweeping driveway off a quiet road in Tilques. There is a serene and relaxed atmosphere with beautiful manicured lawns and a romantic lake with woodland walk.

The chateau rooms are traditional, comfortable and well appointed and in the more recently added Pavillon du Parc there are contemporary, larger rooms which are ideal for families wanting to make use of the fabulous indoor pool with views into the woodland – on a recent visit we swam watching the rabbits frolic in the early morning sunshine.

The excellent restaurant 'Le Vert Mesnil' serves fresh local produce in a beautiful, elegant setting and offers exceptional wine from its well-stocked cellar, and if you haven’t tried it before we would recommend sampling some ‘Genievre de Houlle’ – an amazing distilled grain alcohol that was a real discovery for us during a superb meal that started out as 3 courses but we lost count at 7!

In good weather the doors from the restaurant open up onto a lovely summer terrace, and there is also a sun terrace at the rear of the chateau which looks out on the surrounding woodland – both terraces are also enjoyed by the resident peacocks.

With its open fires in winter, beautiful grounds and sophisticated ambiance, the Chateau Tilques is a treat for all the senses and we think you’ll want to return.(see 'Reviews')
